SPIRITUAL DIRECTION TRAINING AT AYLESFORD PRIORY, KENT
Spiritual Direction or Spiritual Accompaniment provides a one to one setting for people seeking a deeper awareness of the presence of God in their lives, and discernment within life choices.
The Aylesford training programme is Ecumenical and teaches both the theory and practice of spiritual direction. It aims to deepen understanding of the process of spiritual growth and the insights of different spiritual traditions. The course offers a supportive environment where you will learn to give and receive accompaniment.
This one year course runs each year from September until July and is sponsored by the Carmelite community at Aylesford Priory, Kent. This course is a continuation of the inspiring Franciscan programme, which ran for over 20 years in Canterbury.

What is Spiritual Direction or Accompaniment? What is its origin and is it relevant now? Who is it for and who can become a Spiritual Directors? So often the church speaks, teaches and instructs but sometimes we need someone to listen to our search for God, to give us the opportunity to share and reflect on the hand of God in our everyday life, Spiritual Direction offers this non-judgmental space for personal reflection. One area most directees share is worries about their prayer life, it seems most people worry that they don’t pray as well as they think they should; prayer is at the heart of our journey to God, this gives us the only true direction.
